Flashback to 1997, a summer night in Saugus Massachusetts, and a few friends and myself gathered around my kitchen table with my head pressed into a steaming bowl of boiled RED Kool Aid. The desired look: a few sweetly tinted peekaboo highlights. The final result: let's just say I earned the nickname "Ronald McDonald" for months after that. With that (traumatic) experience behind me, it's not easy for me to look at pictures like the ones above and think that could EVER be a good idea. Fact of the matter is it could go TERRIBLY awry in the wrong stylists hands (IE your novice friends and a couple bottles of manic panic). But from the extreme example of Nikki Minaj, to the statement making Katy Perry, and the tasteful (and i'll say it, STUNNING) example of Lauren Conrad - this look is tye dyed and gone to heaven.
